I have over 10 years of experience as a professional designer
with expertise in many different creative fields.
Art Direction, Retouching, Copywriting, and Project Management
are just a few of the areas with which I've become savvy.
I pour everything I've got into delivering clever, impactful results.
Whether it's a print campaign or mobile application, my skills in Art & Creative Direction, Illustration, Branding, and Typography make me a designer that can be relied upon to work a project from original concept to final output for the client.
I've spent the past six years working full time as a Photoshop guru in the high-end fashion world. From minor color corrections to major image manipulation, I have the skills and knowledge to provide you with prepress solutions.
"You're creative, can you just make it up?" - a phrase that is all too common when working with a new client. Luckily my experience in the publishing industry has given me the ability to create content, copy, and call outs like a pro.
I've written and edited articles for newspapers, collateral for programming, and copy for software. I know that overseeing a project from start to finish means having to put on my "wordsmith" hat from time to time.
My meticulous nature means that my design solutions translate to more than just aesthetics. Project management requires a thorough understanding of a process and coordination of the many parts involved.
I've applied versions of the Agile methodology to both my professional and personal life with great success. Simply explained, I evaluate this way:
I have implemented multiple project management systems on a variety of software helping past employers grow by leaps and bounds. Additionally I've written standard operating procedures and helped train new team members.

CLIENTS I'VE WORKED WITH
From newspaper corporations to luxery brands and everything in between. Here are just a few of the companies I've worked with:
" Design is so simple, that's why it's so complicated "
- Paul Rand
Bold shapes and colors combined with simplistic designs hiding surprising material. In other words, give it all a second glance, you may just find something you weren't expecting.
" Design is thinking made visual "
- Saul Bass
ALL ABOUT ME
This section may be slightly narcissistic.
So please bear with me while I try to sell my good attributes
without sounding too much like an asshole.
I am a multidisciplinary designer with more than 10 years of experience telling engaging visual stories. I have experience in a wide range of work environments - from mom and pop sign shops, to one of the largest newspaper corporations in the world. Many of the positions I have filled required fast-paced problem solving abilities to negotiate the obstacles that arise in a growing businesses. I continue to show flexibility and reliability in any role I am placed. I recently moved to Chattanooga, TN. where I work as a freelance graphic artist.
I started my career as a Sign Designer and Builder for multiple FASTSIGNS franchises throughout and just after my time at East Tennessee State University. This gave me a strong understanding of environmental design, digital printing processes, and vector based imaging for use in die-cutting and plotting. FASTSIGNS also reinforced the sense of accomplishment that can be found when you see a project through from start to finish.
Upon college graduation, I moved to Washington DC while I worked for USA WEEKEND and Open Air Magazines. This afforded me a good look into the newspaper and magazine industry. I was tasked to design pages for the magazines, as well as a trade show display and accompanying collateral for their charity events. Additionally, I marked up randoms for production, including color matching, corrections, and bleeds. I also commissioned and directed illustrators while staying under budget, on time, and consistent with the magazine’s brand.
Most recently, I worked as a digital imaging specialist for HudsonYards Studios in Nashville. My primary role was converting, retouching, and color correcting many different types of images - from high-end fashion, to nature, product, editorial, and everything in between. Over the course of the 6 years I spent there I successfully accomplished a wide variety of projects. I coordinated the use of images across multiple live catalogs for one of our largest customers, anticipating their needs and brainstorming solutions for any of their requests along the way. I served as the central point of contact for multiple departments of HudsonYards and helped coordinate shipments of proofs, materials, and samples with our customers. I trained new team members, wrote and developed standard operating procedures, and recorded and edited instructional videos for outsourcing partners. Additionally, I gained experience as a project manager researching and implementing a system that linked our customer service, file management, conversion, color correction, quality control, and shipping departments. This maximized communication, efficiency, and profitability as they continue to see growth.
I achieved a mastery of Adobe Photoshop during my time at HudsonYards, and have continued to polish my design sensibilities from home with freelance work and personal projects. My UX / UI Design skills were put to use recently on a personal project called KICKLIST. This is a scavenger hunt style mobile application that keeps score based off of completed dares - accompanying, connecting, and challenging a group of users during any given time.
My interest in design was sparked some 20 years ago by the bold graphics and imagery of the skateboard industry that I was completely consumed by. I still enjoy skateboarding from time to time, but my interest has faded as my injury recovery time has increased. When I am not busy working on design projects, I enjoy most anything outdoors. I also enjoy red wine and woodworking (not at the same time). I have been known to tear the house down when given a mic for karaoke.
I am extremely excited to have finally moved in with my fiancé in Chattanooga, where we will be starting our family and planting some roots. We are expecting a son in June!
